Direction rather than brightness
A bright room is not automatically the best location. Light from the front, side or behind a person shapes the face and surroundings differently. We first look for a direction that suits the visual idea.
Soft and defined
A large light source can make transitions gentle. Directed light can emphasise contours. Both have their place: a calm family photograph often calls for something different from a striking artist portrait.
The room plays a part
Light walls, windows, curtains and the background affect the result. For an on-location session, reviewing the room beforehand helps. Sometimes a small change of position is enough to avoid distracting reflections.
At CreativePortrait we adapt the light to your expression and desired result. You do not need technical knowledge. Just tell us which mood feels like you.
